On June 11, 2020, the Senate Judiciary Committee voted 12–10 to authorize Chairman Lindsey Graham to issue subpoenas related to oversight of the FISA process and the Crossfire Hurricane investigation. The official majority press release lists the covered categories and then a named roster. “Carl Ghattas” appears on that roster, between Tashina Gauhar and Curtis Heide. The same list includes James Comey, Andrew McCabe, Peter Strzok, E.W. “Bill” Priestap, Lisa Page, and many others.
The authorization, as the release states, covers documents, communications, and testimony tied to the Justice Department Inspector General’s Crossfire Hurricane / four-FISA review and to officials involved in that investigation or in receipt or analysis of Christopher Steele’s reports. The committee PDF motion of the same date prints the same names.
Townhall (Katie Pavlich) and The Epoch Times reprinted the 53-name roster and included Ghattas. The Last Refuge / Conservative Treehouse also pasted the list in a May 24, 2020, roundup. Those are labeled reprints of the committee list.
A name on an authorization list is not a finding that he opened Crossfire Hurricane, signed a FISA, or committed a crime. This site does not treat the list as a conviction and does not merge him with Strzok or Priestap. This pass did not locate a public hearing transcript in which Graham examined Ghattas under that 2020 authorization.
